Why should I hire you?
Plenty of hands-on experience and training in the industry. With Big Day Video, you will get the person you that has done the demos you have seen on the website and on the DVD portfolio viewed at a pre-event meeting. Often at the "package photography event companies", while many do awesome work, a fill-in videographer is often sent to the event or someone that you have not met in person.

How long does it take to get my video?
Normal edit time is 4-6 weeks depending on the season.  I am very precise with editing and like to take the needed time to give you the best product possible.

I have priced other wedding videographers. Why does it cost so much for video?
Professional video systems are very costly to purchase and maintain on a regular basis. I buy from studios in New York and locally that mainly supply studios for television and professional event videographers. Cameras are 3ccd which means you get a pro look to your wedding video. Colors and clarity are just as accurate as on television shows. Time is also a factor. Wedding video can take 40 or more hours from editing to DVD production and mailing time.

Do you arrive dressed for the occassion?
Yes. Always dress in shirt, tie and black suit for your event.

What about interviews?
We only do interviews at the request of a client. Our job is to get the best looking video possible.
Guests often find it an intrusion when appoached so we prefer to stay in the background with little interference. The trend in modern day wedding videos is to have more of a clean well edited cinematic style.

I just hired my photographer. Do you work well with photographers?
I always "shadow" your photographer and ask them where they would like me during their shooting of pics. Have worked well with many area photographers in my shoots in the past. When photographer gets in the shot, it is always edited out of the video.

Do use use a lot of lights and other equipment?
We use an on-camera light mainly during the entrances, special dances and cake cutting but the wattage is no higher than that of a table lamp.

Will the mic on the groom record everything?
The mic is a wireless one that has a receiver controller on the camera. The mic is only turned on for the vow portion of ceremony and rest of ceremony and reception are recorded thru the on-camera mic.

Video Tips!

On a sunny day do the "couple kiss between the sun ray" shot.

Avoid bronzing or over tanning from tan salons. Can often give an orange like complexion on digital video.

When walking down the aisle move at a slower pace. While often not noticed to the viewer, video can tend to speed up movement.

Have wedding site set at medium or higher set lighting. Dark lighting can make for lower color and clarity.

Caterer rep stand away from cake before/during the cake cutting segments.

Everyone in the bridal party smile, smile, smile!!!

Most importantly relax and enjoy your special day!   :)
